Kate Zigtema

Kate Zigtema is the founder of Zigtema Law LC and focuses her practice on criminal defense and trial litigation in Kansas and Missouri. She represents individuals facing serious criminal charges, including felony matters, and provides defense in juvenile and other criminal proceedings. Known for her trial experience and courtroom advocacy, she works closely with clients throughout the legal process. Her practice emphasizes careful preparation, strategic litigation, and strong representation for individuals navigating complex criminal cases.

Ms. Zigtema earned two degrees in International Business and Finance from Georgetown University before returning to Kansas to pursue her legal education. She received her J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law. During law school, she gained significant courtroom experience while working at the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office. There, she handled felony jury trials and managed a full caseload, gaining valuable trial experience early in her legal career.

After completing law school, Ms. Zigtema joined a private law firm in the Wichita area, where she continued to work on serious criminal matters. During this time, she also began developing experience in appellate advocacy. In 2013, she established her own practice, founding Zigtema Law LC. Since then, her firm has continued to grow, and she has become known among peers for her legal knowledge, frequently consulting with other attorneys on criminal defense and trial strategies.

Kate Zigtema is admitted to practice in Kansas, Missouri, and the Federal District of Kansas. She is actively involved in professional organizations, including the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where she serves as President. She is also a member of the Kansas Women Attorneys Association, Kansas Bar Association, Johnson County Bar Association, and the Earl O’Connor Inn of Court. She regularly teaches continuing legal education programs focused on criminal defense, juvenile law, and trial advocacy.
