About
Kaitlin Cook is a criminal defense attorney with Silverstein Law, P.A., in Bangor, Maine. Her practice draws on experience as a prosecutor in South Carolina and Maine. She represents people facing criminal accusations involving impaired driving, domestic violence, theft, fraud, drug offenses, firearms, sexual offenses, and violent crimes. Her background gives her familiarity with the way criminal investigations, charging decisions, and prosecution strategies develop.
Kaitlin earned B.S. and B.A. degrees from the University of South Carolina in 2016 and a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2019. She was admitted to the South Carolina bar in 2019 and worked as a judicial law clerk for a district court judge. Her legal education and clerkship provided training in legal research, courtroom procedure, and the analysis of criminal legal issues.
From 2020 through 2024, she worked in the South Carolina Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office. After moving to Maine in 2025 and joining the Maine bar, she spent much of that year as an assistant district attorney in Penobscot County. Her combined prosecution experience includes cases involving operating under the influence, domestic violence, fraud, drugs, firearms, and serious criminal allegations. She now applies that background to the defense of accused individuals.
Kaitlin Cook brings a prosecutor’s perspective to criminal defense, with attention to how evidence is gathered and cases are presented. Her work involves evaluating allegations and preparing responses appropriate to a client’s circumstances. Experience in two states’ criminal justice systems helps her consider both procedural questions and the practical effects of prosecution. She works with clients facing charges that may have significant consequences for their freedom and future.
