Julie Sparks is an Austin immigration lawyer and founding attorney at J. Sparks Law, PLLC, who has practiced immigration law for more than 20 years. She is Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She represents immigrant families, crime and domestic violence survivors, Dreamers, asylum seekers, and people facing deportation. She has represented immigrants from more than 110 countries before USCIS offices, immigration courts, federal circuits, and consulates worldwide in matters.

Julie earned her B.S. in Education from Baylor University in 1997, majoring in science and history with a minor in world religions. She later earned her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. She participated in the immigration clinical program and received a Public Interest Fellowship. She entered law after working in education, bringing teaching experience that supports her ability to explain immigration procedures clearly to clients.

Julie spent her early legal career in Southern California, where she practiced immigration law and taught immigration law. She served as an instructor at Pepperdine School of Law and California State University, Los Angeles. She also founded and managed a nonprofit organization where she supervised law students representing indigent immigrants seeking asylum and other relief in removal proceedings. She later continued her immigration advocacy and community service in Texas communities.

Julie Sparks received recognition for her immigration advocacy and pro bono service during her career. She received the 2010 Beacon of Justice Award from the National Legal Aid and Defender Association and was featured by AILA for pro bono work. She has volunteered with community organizations and previously served as a pro bono attorney liaison for AILA and NALEO. She combines immigration experience, teaching skills, and advocacy for immigrant communities.
