Julie Anne Halter

Julie Anne Halter is the managing partner of the Seattle office of K&L Gates. Her practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, arbitration, internal and government investigations, and electronic discovery. She advises businesses on managing large volumes of documents and digital information during litigation and regulatory reviews. Her work involves matters across industries such as technology and life sciences and includes the practical demands of collecting, reviewing, and preserving information during legal proceedings.

Julie Anne earned a B.A. from the University of Washington in 1993, graduating cum laude, and a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 1997, graduating magna cum laude. She served as Managing Editor of the Seattle University Law Review. Her academic experience supports her work on technical discovery questions, complex procedural requirements, and evidence management. She is admitted to practice in Washington and several federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.

Julie Anne has advised clients for more than two decades on electronic discovery in litigation, arbitration, and investigations. Her matters have involved intellectual property, trade secrets, securities, banking, antitrust, product liability, real estate, and employment disputes. She also handles discovery questions connected to SEC and FINRA investigations. Within the firm’s e-Discovery Analysis and Technology group, she works with technology-assisted review and predictive analytics to organize large, document-intensive matters.

Julie Anne Halter has received recognition from Chambers Global, Chambers USA, The Legal 500 United States, and Best Lawyers for her litigation and information governance work. She is a frequent author and speaker on electronic discovery and has participated in a Sedona Conference working group addressing electronically stored information. She also advises on records management, retention policies, and litigation readiness. Her practice combines technical legal analysis with leadership on the information issues companies face in major disputes.
