Julie A. Divola

Julie A. Divola is a partner in San Francisco and co-leader of the Corporate Reorganizations practice at Pillsbury. She focuses on federal income tax planning for business and financial transactions. Her work includes domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, and spin-offs across a wide range of industries.

Julie earned her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1986, graduating summa cum laude and first in her class. She also holds a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, earned in 1980. She is admitted to practice in California.

Julie has extensive experience advising clients on complex corporate and partnership tax matters. Her work includes guiding major companies through acquisitions, dispositions, and internal restructurings. She has represented leading organizations in high-value transactions involving technology, energy, healthcare, and financial services sectors across global markets and evolving regulatory environments.

Julie has received recognition as a top tax practitioner. She has been ranked Band 1 by Chambers USA for two decades and honored by Best Lawyers in America. She was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Tax Law in San Francisco and recognized among Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Global Tax Lawyers.

Julie has held several leadership roles in the American Bar Association Section of Taxation, including chair. She has served in editorial and committee leadership roles. She serves on major advisory boards, teaches corporate tax at Berkeley Law and the UC Davis School of Law, and speaks frequently at industry conferences.
