About
Julia Newland is an attorney whose background combines community involvement, academic achievement, and a strong understanding of family-related legal issues. Raised in Yamhill, Oregon, she attended local schools and graduated from Yamhill-Carlton High School in 2004. Her connection to the area has remained an important part of both her personal and professional journey. Through years of involvement in local activities and volunteer efforts, she has built a reputation for dedication, hard work, and service.
Julia earned a degree in Communications from Portland State University, where she also developed an interest in learning Russian. After receiving a substantial scholarship, she attended Willamette University College of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor. While pursuing her legal education, she focused on dispute resolution and received a certificate recognizing that area of study upon graduation. In her final year, she earned the Willamette University College of Law Moot Court award for “Best Trialist.
Julia brings a unique perspective to legal matters because of her personal experiences as a parent. Having spent many years raising two children as a single mother, she understands many of the challenges families face when navigating major life transitions. Those experiences have given her insight into financial concerns, co-parenting responsibilities, and the emotional impact that legal disputes can have on parents and children alike.
Julia has remained active within the community throughout her life. While pursuing her education, she worked in local restaurants and balanced work, school, and family responsibilities. She has also volunteered with the Salvation Army food bank and coached youth soccer, basketball, and volleyball programs, primarily through McMinnville Parks & Rec. These experiences strengthened her commitment to helping others and maintaining strong community ties.
Julia Newland participates in several professional organizations, including the Oregon State Bar, Multnomah County Bar Association, Yamhill County Bar Association, and Yamhill County Family Law Advisory Committee. Her combination of legal training, practical experience, and community involvement allows her to approach legal matters with understanding, preparation, and a focus on helping families address complex challenges with confidence and clarity.
