About

Josh Friedman is the founder and principal of The Friedman Firm in Chicago, Illinois. He represents employees in workplace disputes involving discrimination, retaliation, termination, wages, benefits, severance agreements, and employment contracts. His clients range from working-class employees and professionals beginning their careers to senior executives negotiating important agreements. Josh focuses on protecting workers’ rights while pursuing practical resolutions through negotiation or litigation when court action is necessary.

Josh earned his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1991 and a Master of Arts from the University of Virginia in 1986. His academic background provided a strong foundation in legal analysis, advocacy, and the laws governing workplace relationships. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, and his education and decades of experience support his ability to evaluate complex employment issues and explain available options clearly.

Josh began his career as an associate at a large law firm and spent approximately 20 years primarily representing major employers. He later shifted his practice to employee representation, giving him insight into how companies assess, defend, and resolve employment claims. Since 1991, he has helped clients pursue lost wages, unpaid overtime, unemployment benefits, disability claims, and remedies for discrimination and other violations of state and federal workplace laws.

Josh Friedman has taught employment law and has written articles published in national legal journals. His approach emphasizes careful evaluation, reasonable cost control, clear advice, and representation suited to each client’s circumstances. Drawing on experience from both sides of employment disputes, he helps Chicago-area employees understand their rights, assess risks, negotiate solutions, and pursue claims when their jobs, compensation, benefits, or professional futures are threatened.
