Joseph T. Preston

Joseph T. Preston is a partner and attorney at Echo Hawk & Olsen in Pocatello, Idaho. Joe’s practice centers on helping small businesses establish and operate their companies, complete business purchases and sales, and structure transactions to protect their interests. He also advises on contracts, real estate, bankruptcy, Indian law, and business organization matters, including work with Tribal entities participating in the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program.

Joe earned a B.S. in Political Science from Brigham Young University and graduated cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. His legal and political science education supports a practice that frequently requires understanding business structures, contracts, government programs, and regulatory requirements. His academic background also complements his work with Tribal businesses and federal government contracting issues, where careful planning and documentation are important.

Joe has experience that includes mergers and acquisitions, business formation, contracts, real estate, trusts, estate planning, probate and trust administration, and landlord-tenant issues. He has helped Tribal businesses pursue 8(a) certification, create joint ventures for government contracts, and address related federal contracting questions. He also guides individuals and families through estate planning and administration, helping them establish plans and manage probate or trust responsibilities after a death.

Joseph T. Preston also contributes pro bono time as a Guardian Ad Litem for Court Appointed Special Advocate matters involving children who may have experienced abuse or neglect. His practice combines business counseling, transactional work, estate planning, and practical real estate experience. By working across these areas, he helps business owners, families, and Tribal entities address legal risks, structure important arrangements, and move forward with clear legal planning.
