Joseph S. Grubb

Joseph S. Grubb is a senior litigation attorney at Brockstedt Mandalas Federico LLC in Wilmington. His practice ranges from criminal defense to civil litigation. He previously served in the Delaware Department of Justice Criminal Division, where he tried cases in Superior Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, the Court of Common Pleas, Family Court, and Justice of the Peace Court. He later served as Director of Training and Trial Advocacy.

Joe earned a J.D. from Widener University, Delaware Law School in 2005 and a B.A. from the University of Delaware in 2002. He also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Marty M. Johnston of the Delaware Superior Court. His academic and judicial training supports a trial-focused practice involving criminal cases, civil disputes, evidentiary issues, courtroom procedure, witness examination, and the strategic decisions required to prepare matters for hearings and trial.

Joe held several prosecution leadership roles, including Chief New Castle County Prosecutor and assistant unit leadership positions in felony and misdemeanor trial units. He also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney on multijurisdictional matters and firearms crimes. His prior case experience includes homicides, sexual offenses, domestic violence, gang and gun cases, burglary, robbery, wiretap matters, white collar offenses, DUI and vehicular cases, and drug prosecutions.

Joseph S. Grubb was named a Distinguished Deputy Attorney General in 2021 and has been recognized by Delaware Today for criminal law and prosecution. He teaches legal and criminal courses at Delaware Law School and Wilmington University and serves as faculty for national trial-advocacy organizations. His professional work combines courtroom experience, former prosecutorial leadership, legal education, and current representation in criminal defense and civil litigation matters requiring detailed preparation and trial judgment.
