Joseph Cannizzo Jr.

Joseph Cannizzo Jr. is Of Counsel at Ratliff Jackson LLP, where he represents clients in personal injury and civil litigation matters. His work is especially informed by experience involving nursing homes, assisted living communities, and elder care settings. He helps clients and families address disputes involving injury, neglect, abuse, and accountability when vulnerable individuals have been harmed or when serious legal claims require careful investigation and advocacy.

Cannizzo earned his Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law in Camden in 2019. After law school, he earned an LL.M. from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a focus on Casino Gaming Law and Regulation. His legal education supports a practice that combines litigation preparation, regulatory awareness, research, and practical analysis for clients facing important disputes.

Before and during his legal career, Cannizzo developed experience that supports his litigation practice. He participated in the Honorable Judith H. Wizmur Bankruptcy Pro Bono Project and clerked with Drinkwater & Goldstein, LLP, where he gained experience in personal injury litigation. He also worked for more than a decade at a geriatric care community, giving him direct insight into the standards of care expected from nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Joseph Cannizzo Jr. is a member of the Alabama Bar and is admitted to practice before several federal district courts, including federal courts in Alabama, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. He has also authored a peer-reviewed legal treatise through the International Center for Gaming Regulation.
