JonCarlo earned his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law. During law school, he gained valuable hands-on experience as a Student Attorney in the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic. He also completed an internship with the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, where he worked in the litigation department. In addition to his legal studies, he contributed to academic scholarship as a staff writer for The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Race and Social Justice. His leadership skills were recognized when he was selected to serve as the publication’s Editor in Chief during his final year of law school.

JonCarlo worked with The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights before focusing on private practice. In this role, he represented the best interests of unaccompanied minors across the United States. His work helped ensure that vulnerable children received support and advocacy during critical stages of their legal journeys. This experience strengthened his understanding of complex legal issues and reinforced his dedication to serving those in need.

JonCarlo Serna later joined an Austin-based law firm, where he handled matters involving personal injury, family law, and administrative law. Through this work, he assisted clients in resolving disputes, seeking compensation for injuries, and addressing important legal concerns affecting their lives.
