About
Jonathan McCollum graduated from law school in 2007 and began his legal career as a practicing attorney before transitioning into senior management roles with early- and mid-stage companies. A lifelong Carolinian, he was born in Charlotte and spent much of his childhood in rural South Carolina, developing strong ties to the region he continues to serve today.
Mr. McCollum earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Political Science and Sociology from Western Carolina University in 2004. He went on to attend Campbell University School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 2007. During law school, he served as an intern in the chambers of the Honorable Mark Martin, then an Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, gaining valuable exposure to appellate-level legal analysis and judicial process.
Following admission to the bar, Mr. McCollum began practicing law with a Cary-based firm, focusing on real estate closings. He developed a strong connection to the Cary community and established his own law practice in 2008. From 2008 through 2010, he represented individuals and businesses in a broad range of real estate, regulatory, and transactional matters.
Beginning in 2010, Mr. McCollum transitioned into executive management roles with several Triangle-area companies. These positions provided extensive experience in business operations, human resources, and organizational change management, complementing his legal background and enhancing his ability to advise clients from a strategic, business-oriented perspective.
Jonathan McCollum concentrates his practice on residential and commercial real estate transactions. He routinely represents buyers and sellers in transactions of varying complexity and works closely with regional and national banks, home builders, contractors, and subcontractors to efficiently and effectively manage real estate and loan closings.
