Jonathan A. Azrael

Jonathan A. Azrael is a seasoned attorney with a distinguished career spanning several decades. He earned a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Finance in 1963. In 1966, he graduated cum laude from Columbia Law School as a Harlan Fisk Stone Scholar. His early academic success laid the groundwork for a diverse law practice. It now includes commercial litigation, business deals, estate planning, and real estate.

As the firm’s Senior Partner, Jonathan leads multiple practice areas. He guides real estate developers, investors, brokers, and other clients through complex deals. He has also advised healthcare and finance experts. He ensured that a good lawyer supported their deals and ventures.

Also, Jonathan’s litigation work goes beyond transactional cases. It includes representing clients in civil cases, arbitrations, appeals, zoning and condemnation issues, and estate contests. His skills let him solve clients’ problems. He protects their interests in court and at the negotiation table.

Jonathan’s impact on the legal profession extends far beyond representing clients. For over 20 years, he has served on the Maryland State Board of Law Examiners and has led the Board as Chairman since 1995. In this role, he has played a key part in shaping bar admission standards and exam grading policies, helping to strengthen the fairness, rigor, and integrity of Maryland’s legal profession.

A committed public servant, Jonathan works pro bono. Through Trial Lawyers Care, he helps the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Program and 9/11 victims’ families. His expertise and ethics are well-known. So, he’s been named a Super Lawyer in Maryland multiple times, including in 2021. This honors his long-standing reputation for professionalism and excellence.
