Jon Paul Rion

Jon Paul Rion is president of Rion, Rion & Rion, L.P.A., Inc., a three-generation law firm based in Dayton, Ohio. He is board certified in criminal law and represents clients in criminal defense and family law matters. His criminal practice includes serious felonies, federal crimes, violent offenses, OVI and DUI charges, sex crimes, drug offenses, white collar cases, and other criminal allegations. He focuses on protecting clients’ rights and developing effective strategies for difficult legal matters.

Rion earned his J.D. from the University of Dayton in 1996 after receiving a B.A. from The George Washington University in 1993, where he double majored in philosophy and religion. His education provided a foundation for legal analysis, advocacy, and trial preparation. He is admitted to practice in Ohio, before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and in Washington, D.C.

Rion has tried more than 100 felony jury trials, including capital cases, and has practiced by permission in numerous states across the country. His experience includes defending clients against serious criminal charges and handling matters that require extensive courtroom preparation and trial advocacy. He has also lectured attorneys on criminal trial practice, eyewitness identification, drug cases, and other defense topics, reflecting his long involvement in criminal law and continuing legal education.

Jon Paul Rion has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for criminal law and in Ohio Super Lawyers. He is a Fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and previously served as president of the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. His professional service has also included work with the Supreme Court of Ohio Death Penalty Task Force and Ohioans to Stop Executions. Through decades of criminal defense work, Rion continues to provide clients with experienced advocacy in complex and high-stakes cases.
