John Schumacher has over three decades of legal experience representing clients across Wyoming, tribal courts, and federal jurisdictions. John earned his B.A. from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1982. He went on to complete his Juris Doctor at the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C., in 1986. These academic achievements gave him the foundation to build a distinguished legal career focused on intricate regulatory and jurisdictional issues.

John was first admitted to practice before the United States Court of Federal Claims in 1990, later joining the Wyoming Bar in 1993. His credentials expanded with admission to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1996 and the U.S. Supreme Court in 2006. He has also served as counsel in the Shoshone and Arapahoe Tribal Court, strengthening his role in tribal and resource-related legal matters.

John has written and presented extensively on topics such as oil and gas development, coalbed gas operations, and the Indian Child Welfare Act. His scholarship has been published in recognized forums, and he has lectured at national and regional events, reflecting his deep expertise in energy and tribal law. His contributions extend beyond the courtroom, shaping understanding in specialized areas of practice.
