John C. Stein

John C. Stein is the managing partner of The Boccardo Law Firm in San Jose, California. He represents seriously injured workers, consumers, and children, as well as families pursuing wrongful death claims. His practice includes personal injury, product liability, dangerous roadway conditions, premises liability, and motor vehicle safety disputes. He has spent more than five decades trying complex cases involving negligence and harm to individuals.

John received a B.A. from the University of San Francisco in 1963 and an LL.B. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. His legal education preceded a career that included government and military legal service. He worked as a deputy city attorney for San Francisco from 1969 to 1971 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a military judge and chief trial counsel.

John has handled litigation concerning defective products, dangerous automotive components, roadway hazards, and serious accidents. His experience includes matters involving cars, trucks, and other machinery, with a focus on preventing harm and pursuing accountability for injuries. He has also served as a pro tem judge in San Francisco and Santa Clara counties, bringing additional courtroom perspective to his advocacy for injured clients.

John C. Stein was elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates in 1984 and became a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1992. He received the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association’s Trial Lawyer of the Year award in 2002. His work combines trial experience, public service, and sustained representation of people affected by dangerous products, accidents, and negligent conduct.
