John Barylick is of counsel with FoleyCerilli, PC in Providence, Rhode Island, and has spent decades handling plaintiffs’ civil litigation. His practice has included medical malpractice, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and other serious personal injury matters. He now contributes experience in case evaluation, planning, discovery, and trial consultation, drawing on a long career representing injured people and families in complex litigation.
Barylick graduated from Brown University and earned his law degree from Boston University School of Law. In law school, he received the Homer Albers Prize and the American College of Trial Lawyers Medal for appellate advocacy. His education and early advocacy recognition provided a foundation for a career centered on legal writing, courtroom presentation, discovery, expert evidence, and the development of complex civil cases.
Barylick was a founding partner of Wistow & Barylick and spent more than three decades handling plaintiffs’ litigation. He served as lead counsel for victims of the Station Nightclub Fire, helping pursue coordinated claims that ultimately resulted in a global settlement. His experience also includes medical negligence and other catastrophic injury matters requiring extensive discovery, expert testimony, damages analysis, and management of multi-party litigation.
John Barylick has received professional recognition for trial work and has taught and lectured on litigation, including service as an adjunct professor at Roger Williams University School of Law. Barylick is also the author of a book examining the Station Nightclub Fire. His current of-counsel role allows him to apply decades of trial experience to case strategy, discovery, and preparation in serious injury and wrongful death matters.
