Joe Leak

Joe Leak is a managing shareholder and Birmingham business attorney who handles complex commercial disputes, corporate transactions, and company governance matters. Licensed in Alabama and Georgia, he works with business clients on entity structure, management, mergers, sales, and capital arrangements. His practice also includes trial consulting, mediation, and arbitration. He combines corporate counseling with decades of experience handling disputes that can affect a company’s finances, operations, and long-term plans.

Joe earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Auburn University in 1986 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1989. His education gave him a background in business operations and legal reasoning before he entered practice. That combination is relevant to his work with companies forming entities, negotiating ownership and financing arrangements, pursuing transactions, and addressing difficult commercial disagreements.

Joe has practiced law for more than 35 years and has tried more than 50 jury cases to verdict, including complex business disputes and medical malpractice matters. He served as national counsel to a Fortune 500 company and litigated high-exposure cases in different jurisdictions. He now also works on early capital rounds, corporate control issues, focus groups, mock trials, jury analysis, and evaluation of complex claims. His work includes serving as a mediator and arbitrator.

Joe Leak is a Fellow of the Alabama Bar Foundation and holds an AV peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has received recognition in business and corporate law and participates in the Birmingham Bar Association.
