Jenn Peters

Jenn Peters is an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Julie Rendelman in New York City. She represents individuals facing criminal charges and brings prior experience as a Manhattan public defender to her practice. Peters has handled matters involving larceny, assault, driving while intoxicated, sex offenses, robbery, and other serious allegations. She helps clients understand the charges against them, evaluate available defenses, and prepare for negotiations, hearings, and trials.

Peters earned her J.D. cum laude from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she received five CALI awards and won Best Oral Advocate in the Domenick L. Gabrielli Appellate Advocacy Competition. She holds a master’s degree in Criminology and Socio-Legal Studies from the University of Toronto and a B.A. in Legal Studies from the University of Waterloo. At Waterloo, she received the Reginald A. Haney Award for achieving the highest academic standing in her program.

Before joining the firm, Peters worked as a public defender in Manhattan and managed a substantial criminal caseload. In one trial, she and co-counsel obtained the dismissal of a first-degree robbery indictment while the proceeding was underway. During law school, Peters also clerked at a criminal appeals and post-conviction firm, where she prepared appellate briefs and post-conviction petitions in murder cases. This experience strengthened her understanding of trial records, constitutional issues, and challenges to criminal convictions.

Jenn Peters was selected to the 2026 New York Rising Stars list for criminal defense. She was admitted to practice in New York in 2023 and is fluent in French. Her background in public defense, appellate advocacy, criminology, and courtroom litigation allows her to examine cases from several perspectives. Peters combines careful legal research with focused preparation to protect clients’ rights and address criminal accusations at each stage of the legal process.
