Jason T. Hutchison

Jason T. Hutchison is a Twin Cities family law mediator and dispute resolution professional with more than two decades of legal experience. He focuses on mediation, moderated settlement conferences, special master appointments, and consensual special magistrate work across the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area and greater Minnesota. His background allows him to help attorneys and parties address divorce, child custody, property division, business valuation, real estate, and marital debt issues through practical, structured dispute resolution.

Hutchison earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. His legal education provided a strong foundation in analysis, advocacy, and problem solving, which supports his work as a neutral in complex family law matters. He completed 40-hour family mediation training and SENE/FENE training through AFCC-Minnesota in 2025, strengthening his ability to guide parties through difficult financial, parenting, and relationship-based disputes.

Hutchison served for fourteen years as a Judicial Referee in Minnesota’s Hennepin County Fourth Judicial District. He presided over thousands of matters involving divorce, child custody, paternity, domestic abuse, orders for protection, Extreme Risk Protective Orders, and artificial reproductive technology laws. Earlier in his career, he worked as a prosecutor, assistant city attorney, and private attorney handling civil litigation, municipal law, business formation, real estate transactions, landlord-tenant disputes, land use, and title matters.

Jason T. Hutchison brings careful judgment, broad legal knowledge, and substantial courtroom experience to mediation and alternative dispute resolution. He has presented on family law topics for the Minnesota Court of Appeals, AFCC-Minnesota, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers’ Divorce Camp, and MinnCLE programs. As an AFCC-Minnesota board member, he remains engaged with developments in family law and helps parties pursue durable, workable resolutions.
