Jared Calvert is an associate at Stowell & Friedman, Ltd., where he advocates for employees facing workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other civil rights violations. He represents clients in litigation, arbitration, and mediation, applying a strong commitment to justice and a deep understanding of employment law.

Jared earned his J.D. cum laude from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, where he received a full-tuition scholarship. During law school, he served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and Social Policy. He worked with the Roderick & Solange MacArthur Justice Center on class-action litigation addressing police misconduct. He also externed with a federal magistrate judge and assisted faculty as a teaching and research assistant. Jared holds a B.A. with honors from Pitzer College.

Before joining the firm as an attorney, Jared worked as a law clerk at Stowell & Friedman, Ltd., contributing to the landmark $160 million class action settlement in McReynolds v. Merrill Lynch. Witnessing the courage of clients who challenged systemic discrimination inspired him to dedicate his legal career to civil rights advocacy.

Jared further developed his legal experience as a law clerk for Justice Peter J. Maassen of the Alaska Supreme Court. There, he drafted judicial opinions on various civil and constitutional issues and volunteered with the Alaska State Court’s mediation program, refining his conflict resolution skills in a judicial setting.

Jared Calvert is admitted to practice in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He continues to focus on achieving equitable outcomes for workers, particularly in cases involving race and gender bias, unlawful termination, and civil rights infringements. Jared brings skill, compassion, and persistence to every case he handles, upholding the firm’s mission to promote fairness and accountability in the workplace.
