Jamie Shoemaker is a partner at Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein and has practiced with the firm since 1993. He represents clients in complex employment litigation and whistleblower matters nationwide, with a focus on False Claims Act cases, wage-and-hour disputes, and retaliation claims under federal and state law.

Jamie earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law after completing distinguished military service in the United States Navy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Virginia Military Institute, where he attended on a Navy ROTC scholarship and was commissioned as a naval officer following graduation.

Jamie is widely recognized for his role as lead or co-lead counsel in some of the most significant FCA cases in U.S. history. His work includes representation of successful whistleblowers in multi-billion-dollar fraud recoveries, including landmark settlements involving major pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. His experience also includes record-setting verdicts and class action recoveries in employment and wage cases.

Jamie is admitted to practice in all Virginia state and federal courts, the District of Columbia, and the D.C. Circuit, and has served as lead counsel nationwide through pro hac vice admissions. His professional excellence has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America, Virginia Business Magazine’s Legal Elite, Martindale-Hubbell, and Virginia Lawyers Weekly.

In addition to litigation, Jamie frequently teaches and speaks on employment law and whistleblower topics. He remains active in civic and professional organizations throughout Hampton Roads, contributing leadership and service beyond his legal practice.
