James (Jim) R. Zadick

James (Jim) R. Zadick is a partner at Ugrin Alexander Zadick, P.C. with a broad civil litigation practice across Montana state and federal courts. His work includes construction defect litigation, insurance defense, insurance coverage and bad faith, municipality and governmental defense, fire loss, carrier regulation, and general civil litigation. He represents public entities, businesses, and individuals in disputes that involve significant financial exposure, technical issues, constitutional claims, and complex factual records.

Jim earned his law degree from William and Mary Law School, graduating magna cum laude. He served as Articles Editor of the Environmental Law and Policy Review, was admitted to the Order of the Coif, and published on subsurface property rights and carbon sequestration. He received his undergraduate degree with high honors from the University of Montana and was named a Presidential Scholar as the top student in his graduating class.

Jim has defended a local government in a complex inverse condemnation claim, represented individuals and businesses in major fire loss matters, and defended a local government against a multimillion-dollar personal injury claim. Earlier in his career, he clerked for Justice Michael E. Wheat of the Montana Supreme Court and worked as a legal and policy advisor for Senators Max Baucus and John Walsh in Washington, D.C. His experience combines appellate, policy, and trial perspectives.
