James F. White

James F. White is Owner and Principal of a Sugar Grove estate planning practice with thirty years of experience. He advises clients on zoning and development, estate planning, probate law, and real estate matters. He has practiced in Illinois and federal court since 1989, serving individuals, families, and businesses.

James earned a B.A. in History from Indiana University in 1986 and a J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 1989. During law school, he worked as a law clerk with Carey, Filter, White & Boland, building strong practical skills and a solid legal foundation.

James was admitted to the Illinois Bar and to practice in the Federal Court in the Northern District of Illinois in 1989. He joined Carey, Filter, White & Boland as an associate and became a partner in 1996, gaining experience in real estate and transactional law matters.

James served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Summit Homes from 1996 to 2000. He later joined Dommermuth, Brestal, Cobine, and West in Naperville, where he focused on real estate, land use, zoning, and development before opening his own law office in 2002.

James concentrates his practice in zoning and development, estate planning and probate law, commercial and residential real estate transactions and leases, mortgage foreclosure and bank collection, and general transactional law. He also advises on business organization and handles residential and commercial real estate closings.

James has been active in the Sugar Grove community, serving as a Director on the Chamber of Commerce board for ten years and as President from 2004 to 2006 and from 2010 to 2011. He is a founding member of the Sugar Grove Economic Development Corporation and the founder of Water Lily International.
