James Bannon

James Bannon is a dedicated criminal defense attorney with a strong foundation built through years of public service. He began his legal career as a full-time prosecutor, where he focused on protecting the community and handling serious criminal matters with care and attention to detail.

Jim earned his B.A. from The Pennsylvania State University in 2002 and later received his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 2006. His legal education provided a solid base for his courtroom skills and prepared him for a demanding career in criminal law.

Jim was initially licensed in Arizona in 2006 and continued public service as an Assistant Solicitor in the 14th Judicial Circuit. This circuit includes Allendale, Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper Counties. During this time, he handled many cases and built strong courtroom experience.

Jim has taken more than twenty jury trials through to verdict, showing his ability to manage complex cases. He also worked closely with the Drug Team Task Force for the Mohave County Attorney’s Office and helped establish the Career Criminal Team within the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Jim moved into private practice in 2013, focusing on criminal defense and trial work. He represents clients across Bluffton, Beaufort, Ridgeland, Hardeeville, and Hilton Head Island. His work includes handling serious charges such as DUIs, drug trafficking, and other major criminal cases.

Jim is also admitted to practice in several courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, District of South Carolina, District of Columbia, South Carolina Bar, and Georgia Bar. His wide range of admissions allows him to represent clients at both the state and federal levels.

James Bannon continues to use his past prosecution experience to defend clients effectively. His approach focuses on careful case preparation and strong courtroom advocacy, helping individuals navigate difficult legal challenges with confidence and clear guidance.
