James B. Huff is a South Carolina attorney at Huff Law Firm PC who focuses much of his practice on DUI and criminal defense law. He also handles workers’ compensation claims and has represented individuals and businesses facing serious legal problems throughout the state. His criminal defense experience includes felony and misdemeanor matters, traffic offenses, drug charges, property crimes, violent crimes, white collar crimes, sexual assault allegations, burglary, murder, and drunk driving cases in complex proceedings.
James earned his B.A. from Augusta College in 1977. He later earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1984. His education prepared him for courtroom work, legal research, and criminal case analysis. That foundation supported his early service as a judicial law clerk and later as a prosecutor in South Carolina courts and client advocacy skills.
James began his career as a judicial law clerk to a circuit court judge. From 1985 to 1988, he served as an assistant solicitor for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, prosecuting criminal cases in Lexington, Saluda, McCormick, and Edgefield counties. He entered private practice in 1988 and later served as town attorney and prosecutor for Jackson, South Carolina, from 1991 until 1996. He has tried hundreds of cases in contested matters.
James B. Huff is licensed in all South Carolina courts, the US District Court of South Carolina, the US 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He has co-authored DUI and traffic law publications, spoken at legal seminars, and trained judges on DUI and criminal law topics. James brings extensive prosecution, defense, and instructional experience to clients facing criminal and injury-related matters and claims.
