J. Bertram Levy

J. Bertram Levy is a lawyer at Cohan & Levy, with more than 30 years of experience representing businesses, owners, organizations, and associations. His practice includes business law, general civil litigation, appeals, and alternative dispute resolution. He has handled ownership and management disputes, contract claims, restrictive covenants, insurance coverage matters, construction litigation, and property management issues. Bertram earned his A.B., magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia, graduating with high honors in Political Science. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma, and Pi Sigma Alpha. He later received his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law on a full scholarship. During law school, he served on the Mock Trial Board and was a Bryant T. Castellow Memorial Scholar.

Bertram began his career handling general civil litigation, minority shareholder disputes, Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganizations, appellate matters, and disputes involving local government. He conducted more than 20 jury and bench trials involving property tax challenges during his first three years of practice. He later spent 14 years overseeing commercial litigation while helping businesses resolve contractual, ownership, management, construction, insurance, and property-related disputes.

J. Bertram Levy is admitted to practice in Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and several federal courts. His professional affiliations include sections of the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association Litigation Section. He has co-authored publications addressing shareholder remedies and property tax issues. His professional recognition includes an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
