About
Henry M. Greenberg is a nationally recognized trial and appellate attorney with more than 30 years of experience in civil litigation, white-collar defense, and administrative law. A shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, LLP Albany office, he is a former federal prosecutor and past President of the New York State Bar Association. His legal career includes key leadership roles in the New York state government, where he handled complex investigations, regulatory actions, and high-profile litigation.
Mr. Greenberg earned his J.D., cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law in 1986. He also holds a B.A. with honors from the University of Chicago, which he earned in 1983.
Mr. Greenberg’s work spans civil and criminal matters, health care, and regulatory litigation. As Counsel to the New York Attorney General and General Counsel for the New York State Department of Health, he advised on major public policy issues and oversaw teams of attorneys managing wide-ranging legal challenges. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, he prosecuted complex federal crimes, including public corruption and white-collar offenses. His judicial experience includes clerking for Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye of the New York Court of Appeals and Judge Irving Ben Cooper of the U.S. District Court.
In private practice, Mr. Greenberg represents clients in civil trials, government investigations, and administrative proceedings. He has been repeatedly recognized by Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and The Legal 500, and was a finalist for Attorney of the Year by the New York Law Journal in 2024.
Henry M. Greenberg is a leader in the legal community, holding positions on judicial screening committees, nonprofit boards, and legal reform initiatives. He is a prolific writer and speaker, with over 250 lectures and 60 publications, making him a thought leader on law and public policy in New York and beyond.
