Gregory earned a B.A., magna cum laude, from Dickinson College in 1984, where he was a Phi Beta Kappa, Charles A. Dana Scholar, and William E. Bittle Economic Scholar. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1987 and was honored with the Virginia Trial Lawyers Advocacy Award. He clerked for the Maryland Court of Appeals following graduation.

Gregory has led litigation efforts involving commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), CLO, and CDO structures, helping define industry standards.
