Gregory A. Cross is a nationally recognized authority in commercial real estate, bankruptcy, and structured finance litigation. Gregory earned a B.A., magna cum laude, from Dickinson College in 1984, where he was a Phi Beta Kappa, Charles A. Dana Scholar, and William E. Bittle Economic Scholar. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1987 and was honored with the Virginia Trial Lawyers Advocacy Award. He clerked for the Maryland Court of Appeals following graduation.

Gregory has led litigation efforts involving commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), CLO, and CDO structures, helping define industry standards. He served as lead counsel in the largest real estate bankruptcy in the U.S. and successfully represented clients in disputes before the U.S. Supreme Court. His experience spans multifamily, office, retail, and hospitality asset classes.

Gregory’s legal work includes guiding creditors and debtors through workouts, fraud investigations, and international asset disputes. His thoughtful legal strategy has delivered victories in major CMBS repurchase claims and complex capital stack litigation. He also confirmed a rare successful bankruptcy restructure of a financial services firm.
