Gerald J. Hampton, Jr.

Gerald J. Hampton, Jr. is the Managing Partner and Head of Litigation at Hampton & Harrison in New Orleans. Hampton leads civil litigation and the firm’s personal injury work, which includes car, truck, motorcycle, rideshare, premises liability, medical malpractice, product liability, nursing home, wrongful death, and maritime injury matters. His prior government experience also includes road-hazard, general-liability, civil-service, and medical-malpractice disputes.

Hampton earned a J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2013 and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of New Orleans in 2010. After law school, he clerked for Judge June Berry Darensburg of the Twenty-Fourth Judicial District Court in Jefferson Parish. His education and clerkship provided a foundation in civil procedure, legal writing, court operations, and the practical demands of preparing cases for litigation.

Hampton later served as an Assistant Attorney General for Louisiana, representing the state in road-hazard, general-liability, and medical-malpractice matters. He also worked in the New Orleans City Attorney’s Office on general liability, civil service, and other civil litigation. He has tried cases in Louisiana state and federal courts, experience that now informs his leadership of litigation strategy at the firm he co-founded.

Gerald J. Hampton, Jr. also served for 13 years in the Louisiana Army National Guard, including two deployments to Iraq, and received military awards for his service. His legal career combines public-sector litigation, judicial clerkship experience, private practice, and law-firm leadership. He brings that background to injury and civil cases that require disciplined preparation, courtroom experience, and close attention to clients facing serious losses.
