George Pappas

George Pappas is a highly skilled patent and trademark attorney with over thirty years of experience in intellectual property law. He focuses on patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. He regularly represents clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and provides strategic guidance on protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights. His expertise spans from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, helping innovators safeguard their ideas and navigate complex IP laws.

George earned his Juris Doctor from the Valparaiso University School of Law. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Electrical Engineering from Valparaiso University.

Throughout his career, George has helped startups, entrepreneurs, and established companies secure patents for a wide range of innovations, including medical devices, high-rise building façade systems, and automated bulk material form-fill machinery. He manages the full patent lifecycle—licensing, prosecution, and infringement matters—to ensure his clients’ intellectual property is strategically protected and positioned for long-term business growth.

Before joining Barrett in 2019, George managed his own intellectual property firm, serving clients across the Midwest and the United States. His extensive experience includes trademark and trade dress registration and defense, copyright protection, and trade secret management. He has worked with businesses of all sizes, from sole proprietorships to multinational corporations, helping them secure and enforce their intellectual property rights.

George Pappas is admitted to practice before the USPTO, Indiana State Courts, and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
