About
Frieda Scott Simons is a partner and shareholder with Simons Firm, LLP in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her civil litigation practice includes trust and estate disputes, real estate and property matters, commercial and business litigation, and insurance law, including defense and first-party bad faith disputes. Simons also assists with property and commercial transactions. Her practice therefore combines courtroom work with transactional guidance, allowing her to address legal issues that can arise before, during, and after a business, estate, insurance, or property dispute.
Simons earned a degree in Economics from Emory University in 2004 and was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon. She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2008, where she served as Coordinating and Processing Editor of the Natural Resources Journal. Her academic work in economics and law provides a useful foundation for disputes involving financial interests, contracts, property rights, fiduciary obligations, and the practical business consequences of litigation.
Simons represents clients in contested matters involving trusts, estates, property, commercial relationships, and insurance coverage or claims. She also works on real estate and commercial transactions, giving her experience with the documents and business arrangements that can later become central to litigation. By combining transactional and litigation perspectives, she can evaluate how contracts, ownership records, estate documents, insurance provisions, and other written agreements affect legal rights, settlement options, and the risks associated with continued litigation.
Frieda Scott Simons has received the Judge Oliver Seth Award in Ethics and participates in legal and community organizations, including the Oliver Seth American Inn of Court, the State Bar of New Mexico, the American Bar Association, and the Museum of New Mexico Foundation. Her practice emphasizes careful preparation and practical judgment across complex civil disputes and transactions, helping clients understand legal obligations, protect important interests, and evaluate solutions in business, property, trust and estate, and insurance matters.
