Frank A. Louis

Frank A. Louis is a Red Bank, New Jersey partner who concentrates on family law. He has more than 45 years of experience negotiating and litigating financially complex divorce cases. His practice includes equitable distribution, child support, alimony, and related matrimonial disputes. He works toward negotiated solutions when possible and prepares cases for trial when settlement cannot protect the client’s interests.

Louis earned his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law in 1973 and his B.A. cum laude from Brooklyn College in 1970. After law school, he clerked for Judge Henry H. Wiley in Ocean County. His education and judicial experience provided a strong foundation in legal analysis, courtroom procedure, negotiation, and written advocacy. This background supports his work on detailed financial issues, support obligations, property division, and contested family law matters.

Louis founded Louis & Russell, a boutique matrimonial practice in Toms River, before joining his current firm. He has helped develop legal theories that contributed to reported New Jersey family law decisions involving alimony, property distribution, and other divorce issues. His representative matters include Leonard v. Leonard, Sculler v. Sculler, Rolle v. Rolle, and Kelly v. Kelly. He has also written more than fifty academic articles and co-authored a treatise on divorce, alimony, and property division.

Frank A. Louis is a Fellow of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has appeared in The Best Lawyers in America for family law since 1993 and holds an AV Preeminent peer rating. His leadership includes past service as chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Family Law Section Executive Committee. His career reflects extensive courtroom experience, legal scholarship, and sustained service to New Jersey family law.
