Floyd earned an A.B. degree fromthe University of Georgia in 1981. He later attended Mercer University, where he completed his J.D. in 1984. His academic foundation prepared him for admission to the Georgia Bar in 1985. Floyd was also admitted in 1991 to the District of Columbia and in 1990 to the U.S. District Court, Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia, U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, and U.S. Supreme Court.
