Erin Atkins

Erin Atkins is an Alamogordo attorney whose practice includes family law, custody and guardianship, criminal law, and children’s law in the Twelfth Judicial District. She serves as a Guardian ad Litem in abuse and neglect cases involving children in foster care and has worked in public-service roles connected to the local justice system. Her practice combines direct representation of families and individuals with court-appointed work involving the rights and interests of children.

Atkins graduated from the University of New Mexico and earned her J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law. She is a member of the State Bar of New Mexico, the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American Bar Association. Her legal education and professional involvement support a practice involving domestic relations, child welfare, guardianship, criminal cases, and court procedures affecting families in southern New Mexico.

Atkins has served as a substitute Adult Drug Court Judge and as a special prosecutor for the City of Alamogordo. She has also served on state and local committees involving domestic-relations rules, judicial proceedings, schools, juvenile justice, and criminal-justice coordination. These roles give her experience with the institutions and procedures that shape family, juvenile, and criminal matters while complementing her client work in custody, guardianship, children’s law, and related disputes.

Erin Atkins has served as president of the Twelfth Judicial District Bar Association and in leadership and service roles with the State Bar and local legal community. She received the 2016 Young Lawyer of the Year Award for the Twelfth Judicial District and a 2018 State Bar award for service to the Young Lawyers Division. Her practice combines family and children’s law with criminal work, public service, and sustained involvement in the Alamogordo legal community.
