About
Eric Vath is a partner at GoldmanHarris LLC whose practice centers on New York City real estate development, zoning, and land use. He advises clients on zoning due diligence, development agreements, legal opinions, and land use regulations. His work also includes applications to city agencies, such as the Department of City Planning, Department of Buildings, and Department of Finance, that oversee development and regulatory approvals.
Vath earned a J.D. from Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law in 2007 and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art & Planning. At Temple, he received the Milton C. Sharp Memorial Award for outstanding performance in land use planning. His combined legal and architectural training informs his understanding of zoning rules and the practical design implications of development decisions.
His projects include as-of-right and discretionary approvals, large-scale plans, special permits, rezonings, and zoning text amendments in New York City. Before joining GoldmanHarris, he practiced law in Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia on litigation and discovery involving real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, antitrust issues, and pharmaceuticals. He also addressed zoning, building codes, and regulatory compliance at Milrose Consultants.
Vath previously spent nearly seven years working in architecture and is admitted to practice in New York, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia. His experience across architecture, land use review, and litigation offers a practical perspective on potential obstacles facing development projects. Eric Vath helps clients analyze applicable zoning requirements and prepare for review by the governmental bodies responsible for building and planning decisions.
