About
Emma J. Campion is a lead criminal defense attorney representing clients throughout western Wisconsin. A second-generation criminal defense lawyer, she handles violent crimes, drug crimes, domestic violence charges, and OWI/DUI cases. Her practice also includes CHIPS proceedings, Title IX matters, and restraining order cases. She represents clients facing both misdemeanor and complex felony allegations, tailoring her approach to the facts of each case and to the goals of the person she represents.
Emma earned a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2023, where she served as president of the law school’s Mock Trial program. That leadership role provided practical experience with trial preparation, presenting arguments, and courtroom advocacy. Her education supports her work in both negotiated resolutions and contested proceedings. Before focusing on legal practice, she also worked as a legislative aide at the Wisconsin State Capitol on juvenile and criminal justice reform.
Emma has handled criminal defense matters involving disputed police testimony, searches, and evidence. In one resisting and obstructing case, body-camera footage contradicted law enforcement testimony and the client was found not guilty. In a student Title IX matter, she obtained a finding of not responsible after challenging whether the allegations established a policy violation. She also secured dismissal of a methamphetamine possession charge through a successful motion to suppress evidence following an unlawfully expanded traffic stop.
Emma J. Campion emphasizes individualized defense plans, careful review of evidence, and direct communication with clients. Her work includes advocacy for women involved in the justice system and attention to the personal circumstances behind legal accusations. She helps clients understand decisions involving negotiation, litigation, and trial rather than treating every case in the same way. Her combination of trial preparation, legislative experience, and criminal defense work supports a practice focused on protecting clients’ rights and pursuing case-specific outcomes.
