About

Emily Margolin is an Associate Attorney who advocates for adult survivors of sexual abuse. She works to make survivors feel heard, safe, and supported during difficult legal matters. Her practice centers on careful guidance, steady advocacy, and helping clients move through litigation with confidence, respect, and a clear sense of direction.

Emily earned her B.A. in Political Science from Kenyon College. She later earned her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. During law school, she received the Cardozo Service and Achievement Award and the Inspire! Student Impact Award for public service and strong commitment to others inside and outside school.

Emily focuses her legal work on representing adult survivors of sexual abuse. Her approach is client-centered, which means she builds strategies around each person’s needs, goals, and comfort level. She understands that every survivor’s experience is different, so she works with care, patience, and attention to detail in each case.

Emily helps clients by creating strong working relationships based on trust and empowerment. She values self-preservation and recognizes how past trauma can affect the legal process. Through this approach, she supports survivors while also preparing them for the challenges that can come with litigation and legal decision-making at every stage.

Emily also has experience serving people in difficult housing situations. Before her current role, she worked in tenant defense law at the Legal Aid Society through the Bronx Housing Court. There, she advocated for low-income families who were facing eviction and housing instability during stressful and uncertain times.

Emily previously worked with adult survivors of sexual abuse in New York prisons and jails. That experience helped shape her understanding of survivor advocacy in sensitive and complex settings. It also strengthened her commitment to standing beside people who need informed support during deeply personal legal matters and difficult proceedings.

Emily Margolin uses her background in public service, survivor advocacy, and tenant defense to help people facing serious challenges. She brings compassion, preparation, and respect to her work. Her goal is to help survivors reclaim their voice while guiding them through the legal process with dignity, strength, and care.
