Elizabeth A. Callan

Elizabeth A. Callan brings over a decade of experience to her role as Of Counsel at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP in Cincinnati. She focuses her legal practice on employment law, workplace investigations, and mediation, advising employers on a wide range of compliance and litigation matters with strategic insight and clarity.

Elizabeth earned her Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2003 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude with honors from the University of Cincinnati. She also completed mediation training at the Pepperdine Caruso Law Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution, enhancing her capabilities in alternative dispute resolution.

Earlier in her career, Elizabeth served as a judge on the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, where she presided over complex business and equity cases. She frequently served as a mediator, helping parties resolve disputes before trial. She also served as an assistant prosecuting attorney, successfully trying multiple felony cases.

Elizabeth’s litigation experience includes defending employers in jury trials and securing summary judgments on claims involving discrimination, retaliation, FMLA, ERISA, whistleblower issues, and contract disputes. In addition, she conducts thorough internal investigations, often in sensitive cases involving senior management.

As a trained mediator, Elizabeth has resolved complex employment, business, and real estate disputes. Her mediator’s proposals have led to successful outcomes in vendor contract conflicts and multi-party commercial matters, often before litigation becomes necessary.

Beyond her practice, Elizabeth presents nationally on employment topics and trains organizations on compliance matters, including leave management, harassment prevention, and wage-and-hour laws. She is active in community service, contributing to youth mentorship and nonprofit legal efforts through organizations such as Lighthouse Youth Services and the Ohio Pro Bono Partnership.
