About

Eliza Joye is an attorney at Adams & Bischoff in Charleston whose practice focuses on criminal defense. She represents people facing criminal charges by challenging unlawful policing, holding the government to its burden, and enforcing client rights throughout the process. She has worked in the Charleston legal community since 2018, building experience through paralegal, litigation, public-service, court-internship, and judicial-clerkship roles before entering practice with the firm.

Joye began undergraduate study at San Diego State University before continuing at the University of South Carolina. She graduated summa cum laude with a Sociology degree and a minor in Philosophy, then earned her law degree from Charleston School of Law. Her law school record included a CALI Award in Depositions, leadership in student legal organizations, Trial Advocacy Board service, and graduation with a pro bono service distinction.

Joye worked in litigation-focused roles at local firms and Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services before practicing law. She interned for US Magistrate Judge Molly H. Cherry in the US District Court for the District of South Carolina and later clerked for Judge Roger M. Young, Sr. in the South Carolina Ninth Judicial Circuit. She first joined Adams & Bischoff as a law clerk and now practices there as a criminal defense attorney.

Eliza Joye is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, Berkeley County Bar Association, DUI Defense Lawyers Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division. Her background supports a criminal defense practice through direct representation of people facing criminal charges, reinforced by litigation, judicial, federal court, and pro bono experience.
