About
Edward Ricco is a director in Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin, & Robb, P.A.’s Albuquerque office, where he concentrates his practice on appellate law and complex lawsuits and disputes. He has handled appeals involving civil rights, constitutional law, antitrust, commercial law, torts, administrative law, intellectual property, utility regulation, and workers’ compensation. Edward has briefed more than 185 appeals and presented oral argument more than 40 times in New Mexico appellate courts and the Tenth Circuit. His practice also includes representing hospitals and institutional health care providers statewide today.
Edward earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of New Mexico in 1980, his M.A. from Columbia University in 1973, and his B.S., magna cum laude, from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1971. After law school, he completed a judicial clerkship before joining Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin, & Robb, P.A. in 1981. His academic background and early court experience established a strong foundation for a career centered on appellate advocacy, complex litigation, and sophisticated legal analysis across varied substantive areas in New Mexico courts.
Edward’s representative matters include appeals involving punitive damages, copyright claims, wrongful death, arbitration, election procedures, child placement, medical malpractice, gaming regulation, and oil and gas agreements. He has secured reversals, defended favorable judgments, and obtained important appellate rulings in both state and federal courts. His work reflects deep experience identifying legal issues, developing persuasive briefs, and presenting focused oral arguments. He also taught as an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law over many decades of practice.
Edward Ricco is a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and has received extensive professional recognition.
