Edward L. Allen

Edward L. Allen is a Virginia personal injury trial attorney with nearly four decades of experience representing people harmed by negligence. He handles car crashes, motorcycle accidents, premises liability claims, traumatic brain injuries, and wrongful death cases throughout Virginia and the District of Columbia. He prepares matters for negotiation or trial and helps clients pursue fair treatment from insurers, corporations, and other responsible parties.

Edward earned his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1987 and his B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1984. He is licensed in Virginia and the District of Columbia. His federal admissions include the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, the Fourth Circuit, and the District of Columbia Circuit. His education and admissions support his work in complex state and federal litigation.

Edward joined private practice in 1987 and became a shareholder in 1988. He has tried and won numerous cases in state and federal courts. In 2025, he helped secure a $24 million wrongful death settlement arising from a dump truck collision, reported as Virginia’s largest wrongful death settlement. He also helped obtain a $6 million motorcycle accident verdict that year after a driver failed to yield, causing injuries that required a below-the-knee amputation.

Edward L. Allen served as firm president from 2018 through 2024 and previously led the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. He was named Best Lawyers’ 2022 Richmond Lawyer of the Year for plaintiffs’ personal injury litigation and has appeared in The Best Lawyers in America since 2010.
