Edward J. Hunt

Edward J. Hunt is a Milwaukee criminal defense lawyer and a member of Hunt Law Group, S.C., with decades of experience in state and federal criminal cases. His practice includes felonies, misdemeanors, drug crimes, sex offenses, homicide charges, probation violations, and other serious criminal matters. He handles post-conviction proceedings and appeals as well. His appellate work includes briefing and oral arguments before Wisconsin appellate courts and the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Edward graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law. His legal education included a concentration on criminal law and prepared him for a career centered on criminal defense, trials, appellate advocacy, and post-conviction representation.

Edward has handled jury trials, court trials, appeals, and post-conviction proceedings throughout his career. He has written briefs seeking reversal of wrongful convictions and excessive sentences. His appellate experience includes victories before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and the Seventh Circuit. He has argued before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and appeared numerous times before the Seventh Circuit. He previously served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of Wisconsin Law School’s Legal Defense Program and has taught continuing legal education courses.

Edward J. Hunt is a Member and has been admitted to practice in Wisconsin since 1981. His federal admissions include the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin and the Seventh Circuit. He is a past president of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and remains involved with its leadership. His professional affiliations include the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Federal Defender Service of Wisconsin’s Emeritus Panel.
