Dylan Lawrence

Dylan Lawrence is a principal of Varin Thomas LLC in Boise and an environmental and natural resources lawyer. His practice focuses on water rights, contamination, permitting, public lands, mining, and oil and gas matters. He advises farmers, ranchers, mining companies, banks, resorts, guest lodges, irrigation districts, developers, and other clients on water-resource strategy, environmental compliance, natural-resource transactions, and disputes before agencies and courts.

Lawrence earned a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002, with honors, and a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997. His legal and business education supports a practice that combines regulatory analysis, property rights, transactional due diligence, and litigation. Before moving to Idaho, he worked at Bracewell LLP in Houston, and he later became a partner at Moffatt Thomas before joining Varin Thomas.

His representative work includes water-right delivery call proceedings, environmental contamination settlements, irrigation district assessment litigation, public-land agricultural leasing, water-right ownership disputes, contested air permit proceedings, water-right transfers, and due diligence for acquisitions of irrigated property. Lawrence has also advised on mineral title, mineral and oil and gas leases, public-land approvals, environmental permitting, hazardous materials, cleanup obligations, and contamination risks in real estate transactions.

Dylan Lawrence has been recognized by Mountain States Super Lawyers in Environmental Law and ranked by Chambers and Partners in Natural Resources & Environment for Idaho. He has chaired the Idaho State Bar Environmental & Natural Resources Law Section and served with the Water Law Section. His practice combines regulatory, transactional, and litigation experience across Idaho’s water, environmental, mining, and public-land issues.
