Doug Davison is a Partner at Linklaters based in Washington, D.C. He focuses on investigations, regulatory enforcement, and compliance matters. With more than 30 years of experience, he advises companies and executives on complex business risks while helping clients navigate high-stakes regulatory and enforcement matters.
Doug earned a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law. He also received a Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University. His education shaped his focus on securities regulation, investigations, and compliance matters throughout his legal career.
Doug represents companies, executives, and financial institutions in internal and regulatory investigations. His work involves whistleblower matters, cybersecurity, crypto issues, insider trading, fraud, economic sanctions, anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, and disclosure issues. He helps clients manage risk and respond to challenging regulatory and compliance situations.
Doug previously served as counsel to former SEC Chairman Arthur Levitt. Earlier in his career, he worked as a staff attorney and later as a supervisor in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement. These roles gave him deep experience with securities enforcement and regulatory investigations.
Doug has advised companies and executives in major regulatory investigations involving the SEC, DOJ, and other regulators. His work includes defending clients in insider trading inquiries, accounting investigations, and compliance matters involving financial services firms, technology companies, and multinational businesses.
Doug is widely recognized for his work in securities enforcement and corporate investigations. Chambers USA notes his strength in insider trading, financial fraud, and cross-border investigations. He has also been named to Securities Docket’s “Enforcement Elite” and recognized by Legal 500 US.
Doug Davison is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania. In addition to his legal practice, he has served as an adjunct professor at George Washington University School of Law and currently sits on the SEC Historical Society’s Board of Trustees
