About
Donald M. Brown, Jr. is the principal attorney at Brown & Associates, PLLC in Charlotte, North Carolina. His practice combines litigation, constitutional claims, family law, estate planning, and probate. He also serves as a professional trustee, managing and administering trusts for clients. With more than 30 years in legal practice, he handles both contested matters and planning work in which personal interests, property, and legal obligations overlap.
Donald graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1982 and earned his law degree from Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law. He later completed postgraduate study through the Naval War College, receiving the Navy’s nonresident certificate in International Law. His training across law and military service contributes to his experience evaluating disputes, fiduciary duties, and complex issues involving the rights and responsibilities of individuals and institutions.
Before founding Brown & Associates, Donald served five years on active duty as a U.S. Navy JAG officer, including service at the Pentagon. He also worked with other law firms before establishing his Charlotte practice. His legal work spans courtroom advocacy and the administration of trusts and estates. Serving as trustee requires attention to a trust’s terms and to fiduciary responsibilities owed to those with interests in its administration.
Donald M. Brown, Jr. was published in the Naval Law Review and received the Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. His combination of litigation experience and trust administration allows him to approach cases from both adversarial and planning perspectives. He addresses legal questions that can affect family relationships, financial arrangements, and the protection or transfer of assets.
