About
Debra Groberg is a partner at Nevin, Benjamin & McKay LLP in Boise, where she practices criminal defense. She represents clients in state and federal matters ranging from infractions and misdemeanors to complex felony cases. Her work also includes federal and state investigations and crisis and situation management. She has handled cases involving DUI and serious violent crimes and has obtained favorable resolutions and jury trial acquittals.
Groberg graduated cum laude from Boise State University and earned her law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law. During law school, she served as a research assistant for Constitutional Law, a teaching assistant for Lawyering Process, and Chief Symposium Editor of the Idaho Law Review. Her academic work strengthened the research, writing, and constitutional-law skills that support a criminal defense practice in state and federal court.
After law school, Groberg clerked for Judge David Gratton at the Idaho Court of Appeals and then worked as a Deputy Prosecutor for the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office. That combination of appellate court and prosecution experience gives her insight into how criminal cases are evaluated, charged, litigated, and reviewed. In defense practice, she uses that background to manage investigations, prepare contested cases, negotiate resolutions, and try cases before juries when necessary.
Debra Groberg has received recognition including Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch, Idaho Business Review’s Up & Coming Lawyer honor, and its Accomplished Under 40 award. She has also served with Idaho Women Lawyers and is active in criminal defense organizations. Her practice combines trial advocacy, prosecution experience, and appellate exposure to represent individuals facing serious state and federal criminal allegations.
