David M. Cusick

David M. Cusick is a partner at Howd, Lavieri & Finch, LLP and heads the firm’s Real Estate Department. His work covers residential and commercial transactions, real estate development, financing, condominium and planned community matters, and land use and zoning. He represents developers, associations, financial institutions, and public bodies in property matters requiring transactional, regulatory, or appellate legal work.

Cusick graduated from Hamilton College and the University of Virginia Law School, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif, then served as a law clerk to Connecticut Supreme Court Justice Elmer Ryan before joining Howd, Lavieri & Finch in 1972 and developing his real estate practice. His legal education included high academic achievement followed by early judicial experience.

Cusick’s real estate experience includes purchases, sales, development projects, financing, condominium and planned community work, zoning applications, and land use appeals. He represents the Norfolk Planning and Zoning Commission and Inland Wetlands Commission and has advised area banks. His practice further includes charitable real estate transfers and conservation easements, combining transaction work with planning and regulatory issues affecting land and property ownership.

David M. Cusick has been a member of the Connecticut Bar since 1969 and has spent decades handling real property matters in northwestern Connecticut. His practice combines transaction experience with zoning, financing, development, and public-agency work. He helps clients evaluate property rights, structure transactions, address land use requirements, and move real estate matters forward with attention to legal documentation and regulatory obligations.
