David J. Hieb

David J. Hieb is a partner at Boyce Law Firm in Sioux Falls who represents clients in a broad range of civil litigation matters. David’s practice includes construction, employment and workers’ compensation, health care, professional malpractice, trusts and estates, utilities, administrative law, appeals, and insurance-related disputes. He focuses on protecting client rights through careful preparation and a practical approach to difficult legal problems and contested claims.

David earned his undergraduate degree from the University of South Dakota and graduated with honors from the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law in 2018. In law school, he received multiple Outstanding Performance awards, competed nationally with the USD Trial and Moot Court Team, and served on the Moot Court board. Those experiences strengthened his legal writing, oral advocacy, and litigation preparation skills.

After law school, David served as a law clerk for the Second Judicial Circuit of South Dakota, assisting with trial preparation and drafting bench memorandums and legal opinions on complex issues. He joined Boyce Law Firm in 2019. His current practice includes construction disputes, professional malpractice claims, commercial and insurance litigation, employment matters, appeals, estate-related disputes, and regulatory matters involving public entities and licensed professions.

Hieb has been recognized as a Great Plains Super Lawyers Rising Star and is a member of the South Dakota State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and South Dakota Defense Lawyers Association. David combines judicial clerkship experience with a wide-ranging litigation practice.
