David J. Buckley

David J. Buckley is a Nantucket attorney whose practice focuses primarily on real estate, tax, and business law. He has practiced on Nantucket since 2017 after working at a mid-sized Hartford law firm, where he handled complex business, real estate, and lending transactions. David advises clients on matters that combine property, financing, entity, and tax considerations, drawing on transactional experience developed in both Connecticut and Massachusetts practices.

David earned a B.A., cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he participated in the honors program. He received his J.D., with Honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law and completed a Certificate in Tax Studies. As a Dean’s Scholar, he also interned with the law school’s Tax Clinic, representing taxpayers in IRS administrative matters and assisting with cases before the US Tax Court.

David’s work includes business, real estate, lending, and tax matters, including entity selection for startup businesses and planning involving like-kind exchanges under Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code. He has written and spoken on tax and business subjects and has discussed tax and corporate law issues on national public radio programs.
